NAYPYITAW, Myanmar – The Myanmar military services arrested a well known company tycoon Khin Shwe and his son Zay Thiha on Monday just after they have been accused of demolishing historic properties on rented land owned by Myanmar’s defense ministry.

Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, a military services spokesman, verified the two men’s arrests during a press meeting in Naypyitaw on Thursday.

On Monday, armed service authorities detained workers of an antique museum owned by the 71-yr-old tycoon’s family, but they were being later unveiled. It can be unclear how several employees were arrested by the junta or what questions they were requested.

The chairman of the building organization Zaykabar Business Ltd. and his son are charged with violating Area 24 of Myanmar’s 2015 regulation on the “defense and preservation of historical monuments,” which is intended to safeguard buildings viewed as significant to the country’s heritage. The expenses were verified to the push by a member of the junta law enforcement in Yangon.

The demand carries a jail time period of five to ten decades if convicted.
